Winter cabin rules in West Virginia

In West Virginia, winter availability depends on the cabin type, so check the cabin number before you book. Classic cabins are available all year at Watoga and Lost River, while Legacy (CCC) cabins at both parks are available only April through October. At Holly River, cabins 1–9 are available April through November and only Cabin 10 is available year-round; at Cabwaylingo, two cabins are available year-round and the rest mid-April through late October.

Tygart Lake has 11 year-round cabins (cabins 1–10 have wood-burning fireplaces, cabin 11 a gas log fire), and all cabins at Blackwater Falls are available year-round, including 10 pet-friendly cabins. Pet-friendly cabins are designated by number (for example cabins 1, 2, 5–7, 16–18 and 25 at Lost River), and some carry an extra fee. At these parks, check-in begins at 4 p.m. and check-out is by 10 a.m.

How we check: a cabin is listed only if an official park source says it is heated and rented in winter. Anything the park doesn't state is shown as "Not listed". Checked October 26, 2026; confirm details when you book.

"Pets allowed" and "Bathroom" only match listings where the park states it. Parks often allow pets in only some cabins.
